The Real Magic in Getting UNstuck

I am not much into the “woo woo” stuff but sometimes coincidences are just too unbelievable. And this has happened often in my business coaching career…

A client gets booted out of corporate. At first, they are relieved to move on from what has usually become a toxic work atmosphere. Typically this is not their first layoff and in the past, they often ended up with a better paying job anyway.

But IF it’s around midlife, this is one too many pink slips…

Six months later, prospects of finding a decent job seem crushingly hopeless… the never-ending roller-coaster of high hopes in promising interviews, to utter disappointment of being passed over … again and again?

This is downright… depressing… humiliating even.

And how many hours every day, for weeks and months, can one spend sending resumes and applications to a human-less black hole? That’s when reality sinks in and we realize it’s time to consider a new chapter.

So one door closes… and another is opening.. and door # 2 is called your entrepreneurial life…

You might even continue to search for the ideal corporate job, and in parallel also look into starting a business and creating jobs, for yourself and others…

Here is the exciting part…

Researching businesses and ideas for a business is not like looking for a job. It is actually FUN, and interesting, and creative.

Plus, you are not buying a business yet, you are just researching and exploring… and learning, which is always stimulating.

It’s actually mind-blowing what happens to many people’s spirits. I have seen it. The hope in their eyes, the excitement. Their attitude changes, they smile more, walk with confident steps, have more engaging conversations.

Something switches in their …(gulp)… aura? energy? Again, woo woo stuff alert here…not my thing… BUT

I do know there is something exhilarating about window shopping for businesses and business ideas.

Now, are you ready for the REAL MAGIC?

Almost half the time, my clients end up landing… their dream job!

WHAT? After all this?

Yes, it truly happens and too often to be a coincidence. It’s the mere fact of feeling liberated. There is great magic in realizing you are not as stuck as you thought you were.

The magic is, of course, in your mindset, which translates into your confidence, which translates into how you interact with others and show up stronger at interviews…

The moral of this story is: don’t stay stuck. Explore your options, and if it is meant to be you’ll find yourself a great business and a new life.

And at worse, you’ll land another job… 🙂
