Turn Your โWhat Ifโ ๐ into โWhatโs Next ๐ in 2025
Happy New Year!
Here we are, many of us examining our plan for at least this next year, if not the next decade.
How about you?
If you feel like you are acting in the wrong movie while dreaming of a better life story, I am here to invite you to plan your own recast.
I am familiar with the misery of living a life that doesnโt fit.
It wasnโt fun.
But when I quit my soul-sucking corporate job, I didnโt just become a small business owner. It was much bigger than that.
As excited, scared, and driven as I was, I realized that my business was, after all, just a means to an end.
I didnโt โloveโ my business.
What I loved was the freedom to craft the business around who and what mattered to me. And yes, I was passionate about what the business did and offered to its customers and employees and the lifestyle it gave me.
Now thatโs freedom!
Yet, when it comes to starting a business to build a better life, there are two traps we can fall into:
1- Acting too fast,
or
2- Not acting at all
Slow action is the best way to succeed as a small business owner.
Let me explain.
At 25, I was the first type. Young, single, no kids, with no property, and no money โ I jumped in without research or planning.
The school of hard knocks taught me expensive lessons through sleepless nights, costly mistakes, and years of hustle.
My โtrial and errorโ approach was mostly errors, setting me back with years of hard work to fix my blunders.
I donโt recommend it.
Then, twenty years later, I fell into the second trap.
Even after growing a successful business for two decades, I froze when considering a new venture.
This time, I had more to lose โ money, reputation, and fewer years left ahead than behind me.
I found myself staring at my computer screen, mind racing, wondering if I was crazy to start something new.
The doubts were overwhelming. They might feel familiar to youโฆ
โWhat if I choose the wrong path?โ
โHow do I know this isnโt just a pipe dream?โ
โWill people take me seriously?โ (And yes, that familiar impostor syndrome voice was there tooโฆ)
โWhat if โฆโ (fill in the blank.)
Fortunately, fear led me to research an easier and ultimately better approach.
Hereโs what I discovered: whether you want to build a business from scratch or buy one, you donโt need to have everything figured out right now.
What you do need is a clear blueprint for evaluating ideas, OBJECTIVELY, before going all-in. Objectively, meaning you donโt trust your gut or other people before committing.
Here is why *slow (but deliberate) action* wins the small business race.
Think of it as test-driving a car โ wouldnโt you want to know if a business is the right vehicle for your dream life and for your loved ones before quitting a job and committing time and money?
I developed the Right Business Right Lifeโข framework because I was scared.
In addition to my own experience of having to work too hard (because I jumped in too quickly the first time) and then burning out to a charcoal crisp that led to an existential crisis, I had also been mentoring other business owners.
Lo and behold, I discovered that, like me, a business that doesnโt align with whom we are and our life purpose, is a miserable way to work.
Maybe even more miserable than having a job we donโt like. Quitting a job is easier than firing yourself.
The Right Business Right โข formula is not about get-rich-quick or get-free-quick promises.
Itโs a practical system to help you:
- Identify the business that truly fits you and your life (because what works for others might not work for you)
- Test your idea while keeping your day job and before investing in any business
- Build confidence through real validation
Donโt let another year of โwhat ifโ pass you by.
